Audio Restoration

Audio Restoration

Audio Restoration can often involve many levels of data recovery. Some of these surgical restoration processes can involve months of physical format rebuilding and repair. Here at Ordio Mastering, we focus mainly on the two common forms of audio restoration: Data Transfer & Digital Audio Repair. Both of which require time, skill and specialised equipment and software to achieve the best results.

Restoration Software

Once we have transferred the analogue or digital data, we create a new audio restoration project using dedicated, standalone digital processing. The professional software engines we use from iZotope, Waves and Wave Arts enable us to eliminate hum, hiss, crackles and clips from your recordings. This process is charged per track and our engineers will work very hard to restore your memories the best way possible. At times, depending on the severity of the audio damage, we can only do what is possible due to various limitations.

Audio Restoration

NOISE

It’s almost impossible to have ‘noise free’ recordings yet the level of noise varies substantially. Noise reduction is the most common form of audio restoration and one that we do very well.

Audio Restoration

CLICK

Clicks are common with vinyl records yet any recording can have a number of anomalies. Our professional engineers have a trained ear and the knowledge to remove clicks in most recordings.

Audio Restoration

HUM

Unfortunately many recordings have captured hum or buzz throughout the entire track, we can digitally filter out typical hum and buzz with little compromising on musical clarity.

Media Formats

Typical formats that we currently support are: Cassette, DAT, MiniDisc, SD/HC, CD, CDR, DVD, DVDR and raw DATA files. Some clients just need us to transfer and retrieve information from an old cassette tape and provide them with untreated .WAV files. Others require a full DAT transfer and digitised restoration so they can archive their creative ideas or simply use them again for future recordings etc.

Audio Mastering

In addition to data transfer and audio file repair, our audio restoration service can of course provide the third level of treatment. This being a dedicated audio mastering process using state of the art analogue processing. At times the original level of recordings is very low, lacking dynamics, poor EQ or can be unbalanced in ways of stereo imagining. Talk to us about how we can give your recordings a whole new lease on life.
